It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a great option to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Additionally, it's quiet and can work while you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you won't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you're in need of it, the mopping pad can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot automatic vacuum and mop robot for carpets, although it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. The flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and Best Robot Hoover the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. Its obstacle detection was superb and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming it, something we've not seen on other robotic auto vacuum and mop/mop combos.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular look that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).

It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score an exemplary 10/10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.

The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface, and it integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you try to fall asleep.

It's also quite expensive, but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally powerful and more attractive. This is a two-in-one vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and create more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that let you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and washes and dries its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors.
